Jodhpur Introduction :

Jodhpur is famous for its magnificent forts and palaces. This city is popularly known as the "Sun City" because it enjoys the bright & sunny weather all year. t is the second largest city of Rajasthan and a major Toursist attraction in the country. The fortified city, the gateway of the great Thar Desert is crowned by the spectacular Mehrangarh Fort. The city was founded by Prince Jodha of the Rathore clan. A 10 km long wall encircles this medieval kingdom, where one can still savour the life style and charm of bygone era. The city was erstwhile capital of the Marwar state. There is about 100 towers in the city, most of which are surrounded by defensive battlements.

The main attraction of the city, massive Mehrangarh Fort on a rocky hill is charming with its wealth of historic attractions and colorful markets which specialties in antiques. It is still one of the leading centres of wool, cattle, camels and salt. The other famous sights include the Jaswant Thada – the white marble cenotaph and the magnificient Umaid Bhavan Palace. The city of Jodhpur has a typical desert climate, dry and hot. November and March are the best time for a journey to Jodhpur with pleasant and sunny days.
